Smith Shakes Study Break

Smith Shakes Study Break

The afternoon of Thursday, May 12, 2016, Van Munching Hall was buzzing with the sound of blenders as the Undergrad Program Board at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business provided approximately 200 students with milk shakes and smoothies as a finals study break dubbed “Smith Shakes.”

While students waited in line for their sweet treat, they could write thank-you notes to their favorite faculty or staff members. These notes were later delivered to their intended recipients by the Undergrad Program Board.

“Finals week is always stressful, and it was nice to have a break that brings the Smith community together one last time before the end of the spring semester,” said senior finance and accounting major Alex Prendergast. “Also, as a graduating senior, I was especially grateful for the opportunity to write quick notes to some of the influential faculty and staff I've had the pleasure of getting to know over the past four years! Another great Smith event!”

Sophomore Meg Goh concurred, “The milkshakes were a welcome shake up from studying. It boosted morale and was fun to take a little break and see friends."
