U.S. News & World Report Ranks U.Md MBA Program Among Nation’s Best
Part-time MBA Program is Ranked No. 16
College Park, Md. – March 28, 2008
– The part-time MBA program at the
University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith
School of Business is ranked No. 16 in
the latest edition of U.S. News & World
Report’s “America’s Best Graduate
Schools,” published today. The report
ranked the Smith School highly in
numerous specialty areas and its
Information Systems program placed No. 6
for the second year in a row. The
complete list of Smith’s specialty
rankings, which offer a measure of a
school’s program and research strengths
in a specific discipline, is:
No. 6 Information Systems
No. 12 Supply Chain/Logistics
No. 13 Entrepreneurship
No. 20 Management
No. 23 Productions/Operations
The U.S. News & World Report rankings
follow the
Financial Times MBA 2008 rankings,
released in January, which place
Smith’s MBA program No. 18 among all
U.S. MBA programs and No. 6 among all
U.S. public business schools. The
Financial Times also recognized Smith
excellence in a number of specialty
areas, ranking the school No. 6 in the
world in the “Best in IT” category and
No. 7 in the “Best in eBusiness”
category. Smith’s PhD program was ranked
No. 6 in the U.S. and No. 13 globally.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings
are based on an evaluation of the
nation’s 425 Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of
Business-accredited master’s programs in
business. The overall rankings are based
on surveys of deans, academic directors,
and MBA recruiters; school-reported MBA
job placement statistics; and
school-reported student data, including
GMAT scores, undergraduate GPAs, and the
proportion of applicants accepted by the
school. The specialty rankings are based
on ratings by educators at peer schools.
