Portfolio - Dingman Run Businesses

The Dingman Center has launched a number of businesses that are operated by undergraduate and graduate Smith School students during their tenure at the University. The Dingman Center provides guidance and support to these young entrepreneurs in hopes that they continue to pursue an entrepreneurial path once they leave campus.

The Smith Store

The Smith StoreThe Smith Store is dedicated to promoting the Smith brand and student entrepreneurship. The business is split into two divisions: retail sales and custom promotional product sales. Kevin Kirk, a junior logistics major, manages retail sales while Esther Blinkoff, a junior accounting major, leads the custom products sales team.

The Smith Store is entirely student-run and offers undergraduate students the opportunity to learn new skills in an entrepreneurial business. All profits from the operation go towards student scholarships, funding for the undergraduate entrepreneur student club, the Maryland Undergraduate Society of Entrepreneurs known as MUSE, or the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship.

Currently, the store offers promotional Smith branded clothing and accessories through a full-service website and school store. The Smith Store also provides promotional product advice and sales support to Smith School departmental customers as well as other departments within and outside the University of Maryland at College Park.

Currently, the store offers promotional Smith-branded clothing and accessories through a full-service Web site and school store located in 1407 Van Munching Hall. To see the full line of merchandise available at The Smith Store, visit their website at www.ShopSmithStore.com or email Esther Blinkoff for custom merchandise needs.
